Lemon
This word
comes from the Old French word limon, which in turn derives from the
Arabic laymun. It appeared in the English language around 1400 to name
the citrus fruit. Now it
refers to the fruit, the tree, and informally to define a person or thing that
is defective. For example: His car turned out to be a lemon.
