Orange
The word orange comes from the Middle French word orenge, which in turn derives from the Italian arancia. It is believed that Italians borrowed the word and the fruit from Arab traders, who called it naranj in their language.
In the 13th century the word began to be used in English to refer to both the fruit and the colour.
La palabra orange (naranja) proviene de la palabra del francés medieval orenge, que a su vez deriva de la palabra italiana arancia. Se cree que los italianos tomaron la palabra y la fruta de comerciantes árabes, quienes la llamaban naranj en su idioma.
