My pet
(Sent by Catalina Valencia, a student from Santiago, Chile)
My dog is more than a pet, she's my partner.
I'm training her to search-and-rescue work and when we are out there in the field, in the mountains or in a disaster area, then there is just my dog and me, the rest of the world disappears.
Most of times our work is not easy, she has to go to nasty places and has to do things that other dogs would never do. I'm doing this because I like it, but nobody asked her if she wanted to be a SAR dog, but she loves her job and she's ever willing to go to work.
Maybe some day we'll find somebody alive and it would be the goal of years of work, but by now, the feeling of give giving back the body of a child to his mother is worth enough all the sacrifice.
