Si es posible, desactiva los subtítulos en español. Si no logras entender el diálogo, activa la opción "CC" (Closed Caption) en tu televisor para ver los subtítulos en inglés.

Intenta mirar capítulos de series que hayas visto. Dado que ya sabes lo que sucede en la trama, podrás concentrarte más en el vocabulario y las expresiones usadas en las conversaciones.

Repite las frases que escuchas y si no entiendes algo, utiliza un diccionario.

Presta atención a la pronunciación y la entonación. De esta forma, entrenarás el oído para identificar las palabras y los diversos acentos, lo cual ciertamente te ayudará a mejorar tu comprensión del inglés.

inconclusive	no concluyente, no decisivo
to miss something	perder algo, pasar algo por alto
to regain consciousness	recuperar el conocimiento. El opuesto es to lose consciousness.
we don't care	no nos importa
to poke	pinchar. También significa dar un codazo. He poked him in the ribs (Le dio un codazo en las costillas).
to prod	pinchar. También significa dar un codazo.
awakening	(el) despertar. Como verbo, to awake (despertarse) se utiliza solamente en contextos formales. Es más común usar to wake up.
to do best	estar mejor
environment	entorno, ambiente. Cuando se usa con referencia a la ecología, significa medio ambiente.

it's good to see you	es bueno verte. Es un saludo informal muy usado.
in the rain	bajo la lluvia. Notar el uso de la preposición in.
to stare at something	mirar fijamente algo. Para aprender diferentes formas de mirar, ver Ways of looking.
pretty good	bastante bien. Pretty es usado aquí como un adverbio. Cuando tiene función de adjetivo significa bonito.
folks	En inglés americano informal significa padres. Your folks quiere decir tus padres, tus viejos.
to leave somebody alone	dejar a alguien en paz
to try	Cuando se usa seguido de un verbo en infinitivo, como en este caso, significa intentar. Cuando es seguido de un verbo en gerundio significa probar si algo es útil, hacer un experimento. Por ejemplo, Try drinking this herbal tea, it will make you good (Prueba tomar este té de hierbas, te hará bien).
to have got something to do	tener que hacer algo. I've got reading to do significa Tengo que leer.
come on!	¡vamos! ¡venga!
