We present here a list of research topics that can be used by students either in class or at home.

Students should investigate about the proposed subject, using encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers or Internet (you can suggest some websites or search engines). Then, they should write with their own words a report about what they have found.

It's important to explain correctly the work they should do and help them outline the report or give them a guide.

As usual, there should be three parts:

- introduction (this may be a historical approach, a brief general description, an explanation of the consequences)

- development (all the details about the topic, including examples, causes, consequences, enumeration of items, history, present, future)

- conclusion (this may be a final statement, a conclusive consequence, a round-up idea, a personal view on the subject)

Stimulating the students to investigate is one of the ways of introducing them to real authentic English material. They should look up articles written in English in newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias or Internet. And it's also a good method to introduce them to essay writing.

Choose a topic according to the age and level of the students, or let them choose a subject they are interested in.
